As someone who used to play a lot of World of Warcraft, I found this interesting. Stories in (fantasy) games tend to be even more male oriented than most fantasy novels (and I saw some bad ones there).
It's an issue I see more and more authors tackle, but warrants being pointed out. I find it particularly telling that Christie Golden wrote a compelling female character in The Shattering, only to be blunted to nothing in the in-game storyline. And Warcraft isn't even the worst offender in this regard.
